Surveillance Video of Suspects Wanted in Robbery at 11575 Bissonnet

Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying at least three male suspects wanted in a shooting and robbery at 11575 Bissonnet about 5:25 a.m. on August 4.  

The suspects are described only as three black males.  

The male victim, 54, suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was treated and released.    

The victim and his brother arrived at a gas station at the above address. As they pumped gas, they were approached by the suspects who robbed them. One of the suspects then shot the victim at least twice.  Both suspects then fled and got into a black or green Toyota Corolla, possibly dented on the driver's side door, with Texas license plates DGX-0452.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Last week was National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. HPD held a luncheon for our dispatchers at the Houston Emergency Center (HEC).

Assistant Chief Mattie Provost, who is over the West Patrol Command, came to the luncheon and thanked the dispatchers for working with officers to serve the citizens of Houston. HPD appreciates our dispatchers!  

HPD YPAC Members Present Teen Driving Safety

Recently, members of the HPD Youth Police Advisory Council (YPAC) conducted the Teen Driver Safety (TDS) presentation at the Houston Chapter Status of Women Seminar at the Brentwood Baptist Church.

The Teen Driver Safety Program is sponsored by State Farm and provides information on the consequences and dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and distracted driving. It is a hands-on experience conducted in schools and public events across the city.

Motor vehicle crashes are the No 1 cause of death among teens in the United States according to State Farm Teen Driving Facts. These facts also tell us that 56% of all driving teens rely on their parents to learn how to drive. With that in mind, The TDS experience promotes peer-to-peer interaction while at the same time enhancing driving behaviors for parents.

Citizens' Police Academy Class 51 Graduating Tonight

Tonight, HPD will welcome 30 citizens graduating from HPD's Citizens' Police Academy.

The graduates have spent the past 10 weeks learning how HPD officers handle investigations, patrols and dangerous situations.

The Citizens' Police Academy, in its 25th year (organized in 1989), is designed to give citizens from all walks of life a working knowledge of how HPD operates, and stresses the importance of their involvement in preventing and fighting crime in their neighborhoods.    
   
Thank you to these citizens for taking time out of their lives to learn more about police work and HPD.
